Forbidden City Beijing / Peking

In the center of the city you will find the largest square in the world, the huge Square of Heavenly Peace (Tian'anmen Square). At the square are you can also fing the Front Gate, the Mao Zedong Mausoleum, the Great Hall of the People and the Museum of Chinese History and Revolution.

Here is also located the Gate of Heavenly Peace, surmounted by a life-size portrait of the communist leader.

To get to the forbidden city, now known as The Imperial Palace Museum, you have to enter this gate and to go through the second gate (the entry gate of the Forbidden City).

The city is built in the 15th century. From this, for normal Chinese hermetically, sealed city, ruled a total of 24 emperors.

The palace consisted of a total of 9,999 rooms as 10,000 is reserverd to the gods. The revolution of 1911 makes an end to the feudal regime. The Forbidden City was opened to the public in 1925.
